MainLine Match
How MainLine Match works
Tell us what is happening and how to reach you. MainLine Match is free for households: we connect you with licensed, insured 24/7 emergency plumbers near you, and you choose who to hire.

What MainLine Match does
MainLine Match is a free matching service, not a plumbing company or contractor. We do not do plumbing work. We help connect households in the United States with licensed, insured emergency plumbers who may be available near them.
If you are in the middle of a plumbing emergency, you can start here: get matched. You tell us the problem, your ZIP code, how to reach you, and your preferred language. Then we try to connect you with a nearby participating plumber.
You stay in control the whole time. You compare, ask questions, confirm the price before work starts, and choose who to hire.
How it works, step by step
- Tell us the basics: your name, phone number, optional email, problem type, ZIP code, and preferred language.
- We use that information to try to match you with a licensed, insured plumber who handles emergency calls in your area.
- The plumber contacts you to learn more, talk about availability, and explain their service call or repair pricing.
- You decide whether to move forward. Ask for the price in writing before work starts.
- After the work is done, confirm the job is complete before paying the final amount.
We only collect contact details and problem intent so we can help with the match. We do not ask for bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, income information, or sensitive personal records.
What it costs
MainLine Match is always free for the household. You do not pay us to use the matching service.
The plumber you hire may charge a service call fee, emergency after-hours fee, diagnostic fee, labor, and parts. In many areas, emergency plumbing visits can start around $150 to $350+, and larger repairs can cost much more depending on the problem. Nights, weekends, holidays, hard-to-reach pipes, water damage, and replacement parts can all raise the price.
These are general ranges, not quotes. Real costs depend on the exact issue, the time of day, the parts needed, local labor rates, and your area. No one should promise a real price without understanding the problem.
How to avoid overpaying
In an emergency, it is easy to feel rushed. Slow the decision down just enough to protect yourself. A trustworthy plumber should explain what they found, what they plan to do first, and what the expected cost is before major work begins.
Watch for common red flags: vague pricing, scare tactics, pressure to approve a huge repair immediately, cash-only demands, or refusal to show a license or insurance. If something feels off, you can pause and choose someone else.
You can read more here: how to vet a plumber.
- Ask for the price in writing before work starts
- Verify the plumber is licensed and insured if your area requires it
- Do not feel pressured to authorize a major repair on the spot
- Confirm what is included: service call, labor, parts, cleanup, and any follow-up
What to expect during an emergency
If a pipe is leaking or water is spreading, your first priority is limiting damage and staying safe. If there is water near live electricity, or if you smell gas, leave the area and call your local emergency number first. For any repair or safety decision, follow the plumber and local code requirements.
Once you contact us, we try to help you reach a participating plumber near you as quickly as possible. We cannot promise a specific plumber, exact arrival time, or outcome, because availability changes by area and by hour.
